Mitt Romney, like most of America, does not believe Donald Trump should be the next President of the United States. While his logic in this matter is spot-on, it may be for very different reasons than he claims. Mitt Romney has filed paperwork with FEC to run in the current election and may be trying to block out Trump so he does not get the Republican nomination. This does not mean he has to run for President but it allows him to leave his options open.
According to Inquisitr,
‘Romney gave a heated speech regarding why he believes that Trump is not fit to be president and urged voters to back anyone but Trump. The former presidential candidate, who infamously lost to Barack Obama in 2012, refused to endorse a particular candidate, but instead told voters to vote for whichever candidate had the best chance of beating Trump in each individual state. For example, Romney suggests voting for Rubio in Florida, John Kasich in Ohio, and for Ted Cruz or whichever one of the other two contenders has the best chance of beating Mr. Trump in the given state.’
Romney may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, America remembers his complete failure when running against Barack Obama in 2012. He is putting his mishaps behind him and trying out his luck again, but this time he has to get passed his own party first. In not endorsing a single candidate and telling voters to vote based on how likely they are to win in the state, helps ensure one candidate does not get enough delegate votes to hold their spot as the Republican nominee.
Inquisitr continues in response to Romney’s plans with,
‘If this method is followed, none of the candidates will have enough votes to win the nomination and Romney could be first in line to come in and “save” the party in this situation by representing the party in the fall election’
Romney has done all but come forth and say he is running for President in the current election. He has filed the paperwork, began a budget, and is now trying to get rid of competition so he can swoop in as the hero of the Republican party. It will be interesting to watch another Romney failure unfold.
